Me? A Gardener?

I have never really enjoyed doing yard work, in fact I kind of dreaded having a house of my own when I grew up because I wanted it to look nice but didn't like weeding and stuff. In May we got some snapdragon seeds and a tiny little greenhouse to plant them in. Ammon loves plants and watering them, so we thought it would be so fun for him to do it. I didn't know if they would grow at all because our apartment is north facing and I didn't know how much sun we got. So we planted them and waited. Well....they grew! And they have done so well, that Ammon and I repotted them yesterday and added some other flowers too! I enjoyed it so much! Ammon loved scooping the dirt in the planter box and watering them. I think they look so pretty and I look forward to more hopefully in the near future! We also got a pretty green plant and put it in what I think is a great pot. Hooray! Now I can't wait until we have our own yard!

Yay for the sun!

Friday night was terrific! We went with our two friends Brian and Malena on a short little hike behind the draper temple. It turned out to be the perfect time to take pictures! We got some awesome pictures with our little camera.



Thanks Malena for taking such great pictures! And thanks for a great time! We really like taking Ammon hiking. We kind of took the wrong trail at first, so we didn't get in as much hiking as we hoped. We plan on going back possibly this Saturday to get higher.

More family fun

Ammon LOVES pots and pans! Everytime it pops into his head(which is quite frequently, AT LEAST after every meal, or if he sees one drying on the counter)he asks to play with them and is only satisfied when they are all out on the floor! ha ha. He goes through and takes all the lids off, and then very systematically puts them all back on. This is very serious business!
Ammon loves the camera now. Everytime he sees it, he says "cheese" and wants his picture taken.
About 3 weeks ago our dishwasher broke. The guy came to look at it and said that beecause it was so old it wasn't worth fixing. So he said he'd get a new one. About 3 weeks and LOTS of dishes later we finally got it! I love it. It's so much more quiet than the last one, seems to have more room, and looks much better. I should have gotten a picture of the old one, but to give you a little idea, part of it was blue...Yay for no more constant dishwashing!

Failure!

Whenever something I attempt to make fails, it really puts me in a sour mood. Because our house is cooler, I've been trying different things to get my rolls to rise while we are at church. They just don't like to rise, and then one time I got a bad package and they didn't rise, and so everytime I made them they turned out horribly! How annoying! Well, today, I decided I would get the oven warm, turn it off and then put the pan in there for the rolls to rise while we were at church. Because of the whole nursery thing, I forgot to come home and check on them during sunday school, so we left after the sacrament to find the pans in the oven rose too much. Ahhhh!!! Matt laughed, and I am not quite to the laughing at myself over this stage yet, so I didn't find it funny. I found it very annoying. So frustrating. It seems like everytime I try to make something to go somewhere(we're going to my parents for dinner) something goes wrong. It makes me feel so dumb. Hopefully I'll figure out a better way to make my rolls in the future and not make people have to eat dumb pancake rolls.

Pretty appetizing huh? At least one pan of 6(of the small pan that didn't fit in the oven and got put on the stove)turned out fine. So hopefully people won't be fighting over who gets the "good" rolls, lol.

It's a miracle!

Aren't those last pictures adorable!? My grandma came over on Thursday for lunch and movie watching, and although it took Ammon a little bit to warm up to her, by the end of the day they were buddies. He stuck with her and had a great time playing and reading books. Thanks for coming over and having a great time with us grandma!

Sundays have been getting increasingly stressful because both Matt and I are in primary and Ammon just wants to run around out in the hall. My good friend Joanne took him into nursery for a bit, but since she didn't want to leave him crying, she brought him back to me and I took him in before I had to do music time. He started playing and didn't even notice me leave! I checked back in after singing time and they said he was fine, so I went back to primary not knowing what to do with my self! I went to pick him up on the way to sacrament meeting and he was asleep in one of the leader's arms!!!!! Can you believe it! They said he did fine, and for those of you who know Ammon, you know he can be a challenge to get to sleep, especially in new situations with new people. I am so grateful that his first (and early) time to nursery was a good experience. Thanks to the great nursery leaders! He's growing up so fast, learning so much, and I'm so amazed.

Yay for visits!

This past week has been terrific! Dan and Janelle came last Friday for a quick visit from Minnesota(Dan is selling there for the summer). Dan was only able to be here until Sunday and Janelle and the girls are here until tomorrow. Friday and Saturday nights were Rock Band nights, and Matt loved rocking out with his brothers, all of us were there Saturday, including Andy, whih was great! I took my turn playing a little drums and then singing for a bit. I got 100% on the singing, woohoo! We got some pretty good pictures, and I think the kids really enjoyed seeing each other and playing together again. I, of course enjoyed getting together with all the family again.




Ammon loves drumming! He drummed and drummed for probably 10-15 minutes at least. Some people have made comments about him following in Matt and my footsteps, and although, there's not REALLY a way to tell, I must admit that I sure hope he does. Percussion is the best! Especially suitable for personalities such as Matt's and my own.

Ammon has learned how to say cheese when he gets a picture taken. He also has learned how to take pictures all by himself. He holds the camera up to his forehead and says "cheese!".
Sunday was our Case family night and that was great. We decorated cupcakes with blue frosting similar to the ones below. I really enjoyed that.
Monday we had a very windy picnic at the park, but the sun did come out in bits and pieces so the kids had a good time on the playground. Dave and Sue took those that could come to see the movie UP, and Ammon was a lot better behaved that I anticipated, but it was also lucky that the theatre wasn't very full. It was a cute and funny movie and I'm glad that I went.
Yesterday I went to Chick-Fil-A for my first time with Janelle and her girls to play on the play place. They had a great fruit cup and Ammon finally tried a little bit of his chicken nuggets.
Today we met up at the mall for the kids to play in the dinosaur play area and took a little ride on the carousel. Ammon has become quite territorial and has had a hard time being introduced to sharing. Anytime a kid came near him he would scrunch up his face, and start whining and grunting. If they got too close, he would start pushing them! Ahh! He also had a hard time taking turns on the slide, but fortunately, he did get better, for which I am very grateful for. I don't always know how to teach him to share and take turns playing because I don't know how much of what I explain he can understand. But, for the most part I think he understands. I hope I can stay as consistent as possible to help him learn healthy social skills. It's been good for him to get out and play with other kids. I want to make sure to get him out at least once a day for play, it helps me, AND him.

Matt started his intro to human biology class tonight, and his meteorology class begins tomorrow night. Matt's so great to be willing to drive his scooter in the rain. It's been so nice for me to have the car all the time. I told him when he got home tonight how great he is for going in the rain and his response was this: "well, I'm not a girl, I don't have to worry about my hair." Isn't he great? My goal is to be as supportive as possible to help lessen his stress while he takes on a huge load to try to finish his degree by spring. It helps a lot to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Well, I am certainly on my way to writing a novel, so I best be finishing, but I would like to say one thing: I HATE THE PRICE OF BOOKS!

Clarification

I have been feeling just plain yucky for about two weeks now, and I know a lot of people have been getting suspicious, and some people have voiced their suspicions, but I'll just clear it all up. I'm not pregnant. I went to the doctor today and I might have an ulcer in my stomach, or just too much acid in my stomach. I did think I was for about a week, but I am not. I'm going to research the medication the doctor gave me, because I've been told that it can mess up your stomach, so hopefully it will help, and not hurt, and I then I will get feeling better!

I came across this while uploading pictures onto the computer. I got this recipe from Meg and it's one of my new favorite recipes! It's called BBQ beef and corn shepherd's pie. Meg tweeked it a little from the original and I loved it, so I did the same. It was so yummy! You can find the recipe on the Betty Crocker website. Instead of regular fritos, we used the chili cheese kind, and instead of using bacon potatoes, we just used a package of yukon gold mashed potatoes.

Change can be refreshing

Friday Matt drove up to Roy to pick up a scooter. We had gone to a dealer in Salt Lake that wanted $1700 for a used little 50cc scooter, and Matt went home that night and got onto KSL.com and found a 150cc for $700, and talked the guy down to $600. Woohoo!!! It's got a security system, can seat two people, and has a helmet case on the back. It gets 80 miles to the gallon and we love it! I haven't taken any pictures of it yet, but this is what it looks like, and it's the same color. It will be so great with Matt only being 2 miles from work and with him going to school, I won't be trapped at home anymore! Hooray! Today he went and got the license and registration taken care of and got 25/25 on his motorcycle test. He's so smart:). I am really happy that we got such a good deal, it's going to be such a blessing not to have to drive him to work and pick him up if I want the car.

Friday, some friends from my ward took our little guys swimming in our condo pool. It was 75 at 10:30 in the morning, and the water was perfect! Ammon had a grand time splashing in the pool, and I look forward to going swimming as much as possible this summer. I also got him a little floatie thing to sit in that he loves, that way I can push him around in it AND get in some exercise that I actually enjoy, score! I'll take some pictures of him in it next time we go swimming. HERE'S TO SUMMER!
